For more info on EIFS http;// It is amazing how often I see the expansion joints not being done at all on EIFS jobs. It is very important to put the expansions around every window and door on an EIFS project.Any time EIFS terminates into another material whether it be brick, stone, metal or wood. The EIFS needs an expansion joint there. No exceptions.I think this is not being done so much because EIFS contractors do not want to be bothered to do the caulking so they install the project with no expansion joints at all. Which looks really good to someone that does not know that there is suppose to be an expansion. The problem is down the road after that contractor has been paid and his short warranty has expired the wall may begin to crack and buckle.
